Monica Jean Taylor
July 9, 1950 to January 29, 2023
Monica passed peacefully in her home in Little Britain, Ontario, Canada. Monica was a major contributor to the equestrian world. As a young girl she would steal into a local orchard where ponies were kept. She would capture and ride them until she would get knocked off by a low tree branch. She always respected the intelligence of a horse. Monica moved to Australia in the late 60’s to work with purebreds and later moved to England to train as a teacher in dressage.
While in Canada Monica was a standing member of the Pony Club and trained Equestrian riders that were part of the Olympics. Monica was a top level judge in Canada and worked as a Judge at the Royal Winter Fair for about 15 years. She trained many generation of riders on riding, jumping, dressage, how to care and maintain horse’s health and home vet care.
Monica worked in the Central Seven Association caring for mentally challenged adults for many years until her retirement. Monica was kind hearted and generous but also did not suffer fools gladly. She was a gentle and kind teacher to students and horses and a tough task master to both if they crossed her. She was adored and revered by many and loved by her family. She will be missed by many.
Monica is survived by her sisters, Priscilla and Karen and her brother Neil(Kerry), nieces Carrie Anne(Craig), Kaitlin(Jonathan), Jordan, Chrysteen and nephews Geoffrey, Taylor(Taylor), Carson, Owin and Leo.
